Around 270 experts from research, teaching and industry met in Berlin for the 5th International BioProScale Symposium from 20 to 22 March 2018. Organizers of the conference were the Department of Bioprocess Engineering at the Technical University of Berlin in cooperation with the IfGB Berlin.
Innovative scale-up and scale-down strategies and process analytical technologies (PAT) for the optimization of biotechnological processes were the focus of the three-day conference, which took place in the Langenbeck-Virchow-Haus in Berlin, Germany. The participants from 22 countries were able to discuss about current trends and ideas in the field of applied bioprocess engineering which were presented in 74 scientific lectures and 49 posters. In addition, 20 companies presented their products and services at an accompanying trade exhibition.
Prof. Dr. Peter Neubauer from the TU Berlin, initiator and scientific director of the symposium, is satisfied: “When we started this conference in 2009, we were still a much smaller circle and proud that we were able to attract renowned scientists like Alvin W. Nienow , Matthias Reuss or Sven-Olof Enfors for our event. In the meantime a generation change has taken place and in its fifth edition we were happy to draw on a large number of highly interesting submissions from industry and science. The increasing popularity from industry also shows us that we are on the right track with this event.”
